Healthy School Meals for All

More Than A Meal

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT FOR SCHOOL YEAR 23-24:
Last November, voters passed Proposition FF, which was passed into legislation as the Healthy Meals For All bill, allowing school nutrition programs to offer all meals free of charge for all students beginning school year 23-24. This means that all breakfasts and lunches will be free for all Durango School District 9-R beginning this coming school year.

We will still be collecting applications for school benefits!

School districts rely on this data for other academic programs and funding. These application also benefit families by providing discounts on things like yearbooks, athletics equipment, and rec center passes.
It is important to know that submitting your meal benefit application also ensures that state funding will remain available to provide meals at no cost for years to come.

Please remember to file a new application for benefits each school year using the current year's form, either online or via a paper application.  You may reapply for benefits at any time during the school year. If you are not eligible now, but have a decrease in household income, become unemployed, or have an increase in household size, you may fill out another application at that time.

Your household's program application can help your family access discounted internet and phone costs and secure additional funds for your school. Additionally, you can opt in to receive discounted rates at the Durango Recreation Center and Free Transit Passes through City of Durango Multi Modal Division.

How it Works:

When students go to the cashier before selecting their food, they enter a unique 5-digit pin number on a key pad that brings up their lunch account on the cashier’s computer monitor. The cashier enters the transaction, and if your student has been approved for Free meals, the system will not charge for food unless your child has selected an item that is not included.  If your child has been approved for Reduced priced meals, they will be charged as shown above.

Add Funds to Your Student's Meal Account

If your child has been approved for Free or Reduced price meals, and you would like to add money to his/her account so your student can take second servings and/or a la carte items, please add funds to your student's meal account. For an overview of payment options, go here.
