Free and Reduced Meal Program

More Than A Meal

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT FOR SCHOOL YEAR 22-23:
Over the past two years, the federal government allowed all students to eat free regardless of learning environment or family financial situation. However, beginning on the first day of school, August 23, 2022, students will be charged for both breakfast and lunch unless they qualify for free or reduced price meals.

Please remember to file a new for Free and Reduced Meal Benefits application each school year using the current year's form, either online or via a paper application.  You may reapply for benefits at any time during the school year. If you are not eligible now, but have a decrease in household income, become unemployed, or have an increase in household size, you may fill out another application at that time.

Your household's free and reduced-price lunch program application can help your family access discounted internet and phone costs and secure additional funds for your school. Additionally, you can opt in to receive discounted rates at the Durango Recreation Center and Free Transit Passes through City of Durango Multi Modal Division.

Get an application below or click the links to complete an online application through the Parent Portal.

If you qualify for free and reduced benefits, you might also qualify for P-EBT.

How it Works:

When students go to the cashier before selecting their food, they enter a unique 5-digit pin number on a key pad that brings up their lunch account on the cashier’s computer monitor. The cashier enters the transaction, and if your student has been approved for Free meals, the system will not charge for food unless your child has selected an item that is not included.  If your child has been approved for Reduced priced meals, they will be charged as shown above.

Add Funds to Your Student's Meal Account

If your child has been approved for Free or Reduced price meals, and you would like to add money to his/her account so your student can take second servings and/or a la carte items, please add funds to your student's meal account. For an overview of payment options, go here.
