Registration

Registration for schools opens on March 1. Existing families need to log into their Infinite Campus Parent Portal account and complete the online registration form for the 2025-26 school year. Families who do not have access to a computer may complete the online registration at the school by using the kiosk that is available for new and existing families. Please call or stop by the school to arrange an appointment. After completing online registration, families will still need to complete the enrollment process with the school.

Kindergarten registration opens March 1

Our kindergarten programs are full-day classes and follow the school district calendar. Children are eligible for kindergarten if they are 5 years old on or before Sept. 1. All kindergarten classes are free. If you want your kindergarten child to attend a school outside your attendance area, please follow the open enrollment process.

Open House events for kindergarten and preschool

Families and new students are invited to come learn about our preschool and kindergarten programs at our spring 2025 Open House events. Families will learn about our schools and what to expect for the upcoming school year, and will have an opportunity to complete and turn in necessary registration forms. Please bring proof of residency, birth certificate, and immunization records.

Kindergarten screening events

If your child is entering kindergarten in the 2025-26 school year, we welcome you to participate in our kindergarten screening. This is a great way to learn about your child’s development and support them in being ready for success.

For spring 2025, kindergarten screenings are scheduled as follows:

• Monday, April 21, at the Durango Public Library

• Wednesday, April 23, at Needham Elementary School

• Saturday, April 26, at Needham Elementary School

Preschool interest forms and application

Preschool interest forms are now being accepted. Universal Preschool is available to all students who are 4 years of age by Sept. 1. Universal Preschool offers 15 hours of free programming per week for all students in the year prior to kindergarten.

• Please complete the preschool interest form through the Colorado Department of Early Childhood (CDEC).

• To apply, please complete the Universal Preschool application through the CDEC website and select your neighborhood school as your first choice. If you are unable to do so, contact Jennifer Baufield at 970-247-5411, ext. 1468. Please leave a message for a return call.

Registration for open enrollment opens April 1. Open enrollment applies to all students in grades K-12 who either live outside of Durango School District boundaries or wish to attend a different school than the one assigned to their neighborhood.
