The goal of Durango School District 9-R is to ensure that all students graduate prepared for postsecondary education, college, and careers. To achieve this goal, academic achievement must be continually monitored against the standards through the use of valid and reliable assessments. We must effectively measure each student’s progress toward meeting or exceeding proficiency on district Content-Area Standards and Performance Indicators, Colorado Measures of Academic Success, and 9-R Graduation Requirements.
Assessment results give teachers and school leaders valuable information regarding student academic achievement and growth, which can then be used to provide appropriate academic support essential to the success of every student in our schools. The District is committed to ensuring that administrators, teachers, support specialists, and other staff members assume responsibility for providing the support each student needs to succeed academically. Academic support should be available to all students regardless of whether their parents request additional support or whether state and federal policies (e.g., Title I, IEPs, 504 plans, English-language support) obligate the school to provide supplemental services.
