Farm to School & Local Foods
Durango 9-R Student Nutrition Services is committed to enhancing our students' education by providing nutritious and delicious meals with pride. Our successful Farm to School program helps support our area's farmers while fulfilling our goal to serve fresh, wholesome school meals.
How it works
The District establishes contracts with local farmers and ranchers who then provide fruits, vegetables, beef, and value added products like tortillas. When available, our students are eating locally grown mixed greens, tomatoes, cucumbers, potatoes, zucchini, squash, carrots, herbs, onions, cherry tomatoes, and radishes.
Some of our producers include:
Beet Street Farm, Fields to Plate Produce, James Ranch Beef, Cross Creek Ranch Beef, Rez Meets Urban Zesty Salsa, Bountiful Ridge Farm
