Staff hired after July 1, 2019, who are .60 FTE or more (Licensed or ESP) may enroll in medical, dental, and/or vision insurance and are eligible for district-paid life insurance. If the FTE is .40 - .59, the district will pay for half of the “employee only” health and dental premium. The employee is responsible for the difference. If an employee elects to have dependent coverage, the employee will pay the additional premium for the dependent(s). Employees with an FTE of less than .40 are not eligible for district insurance benefits. If an employee elects to have vision coverage or supplemental products, the employee will pay the full premium. 9 Check employees will be responsible for continuing coverage through prepaid payroll deductions throughout the year, at the employee’s expense for coverage in July through September (June payments through August payments).

New employees will be eligible for insurance on the first of the month following 30 days of employment. New employees have a 30-day grace period from the first eligible date to enroll in insurance coverage.

Changes in coverage may only occur during open enrollment or under certain IRS Qualifying Life Events and must be requested within 30 days of the event date. Open enrollment occurs in April/May each year and has an effective July 1st date for the new year's coverage. 9-R Open Enrollment is based on our Fiscal/School Year not the calendar year.

Qualifying Life Events include marriage/divorce, birth, death, new coverage or loss of coverage outside of the district, and other special circumstances as posted on the IRS website.

The District also offers voluntary products through American Fidelity. These products are optional and the premiums are the responsibility of the employee, paid with a payroll deduction. Some of the products include cancer, accident, disability, life insurance, and Section 125 plans, such as Medical and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts and Health Savings Accounts (The HSA has a prerequisite of enrollment in the high deductible health plan). As well as supplemental retirement plan options through Equitable.
