Joint Use of Facilities

Coming together to invest in our "educonomy"

Durango School District 9-R offers the use of the Impact Career Innovation Center to community members in the interest of fostering and strengthening partnerships between education and local and regional businesses for mutual, reciprocal benefit. We call this collaboration "educonomy."

In an educonomy, America’s educational system – including K-12 districts, two-year and four-year colleges and universities – work collaboratively at every opportunity with employers and job creators to match the skills our workforce requires. This approach aligns students’ skills and interests with the career paths that lead to fulfilling careers, supplies companies with the workforce they need to grow and, ultimately, drives the economy.

We expect there will be will be various public events hosted by local businesses and organizations, as well as large district-wide events open to school families and the public. Impact especially welcomes partners who contribute educational curriculum at Impact. To support our community partners:

  • All public spaces, including conference rooms, the outdoor terrace and restrooms, are available for use when students and district staff are not using the spaces.
  • Every door at Impact is operated by card readers, which can be programmed to be bypassed as needed to allow access during public events.
  • The District offers a rental agreement with a varying fee structure for facilities use.

Joint Use of Facilities is one of the standards of Collaborative for High Performance Schools. CHPS is a nonprofit organization that works to ensure all PK-12 students have access to environments that support learning and wellness. School facilities constructed or renovated using CHPS high performance building criteria are more energy- and water-efficient, and make a difference for students, teachers, and communities.
