Transportation

Durango School District (DSD) Transportation currently operates 16 bus routes, four of which are Special Education routes. Most of our routes serve rural areas and outlying subdivisions. We bring 1,450 students to and from school on a daily basis, covering approximately 2,300 miles.

Bus registration: Required for all bus riders

To ride a bus to school in DSD, a student must be registered with the Transportation Department for the current school year. You will need to request transportation for each student in your household separately.

What to expect when riding the bus

Durango School District is initiating a new program for school bus riders. Positive Behavior Interventions and Support on the School Bus is designed to create a positive climate, prevent problem behavior, teach positive behavior, and keep everyone safe. Please click on "Positive Behavior Interventions and Support on the School Bus Program (PDF)" below to review this with your student(s) and set the expectations for a successful school year.

In this section, you will also find information about what to expect in the event of school closures or delays due to inclement weather, as well as details about the Stopfinder app for parents/guardians and the Transfinder location-tracking system used by our drivers.
