Kinder 101: Learning to be an AVE Husky, May 11, 2022

Animas Valley Elementary School is hosting Kinder 101: Learning to be a Husky. Please join Principal Brammer, Assistant Principal Layman and Kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Jones for information about what your child will learn in kindergarten and what to expect as a parent.

Park Elementary Lock Out Lifted

This is a follow-up non-emergency message from Durango School District 9-R to parents, students, and staff of Park Elementary School. All students and staff are safe and the building is secure. The Durango Police Department notified us at 12:05 p.m. that the school lockout has been lifted. Pick-up and buses will run normally today.

State-Reported Behavior Incidents

Student Support Services presented a report to the 9-R Board of Education on Tuesday, March 29, 2022, on state-reported behavior incidents over the six-year period from 2016-17 through 2021-22.
The report shows that the number of behavior incidents that have occurred to this point in the 2021-22 school year is significantly higher than the the average for the preceding five-year period.

Construction Market Escalations Impact Bond Projects

At the March 29, 2022 9-R Board of Education Regular Meeting, Jacobs Bond Project Manager, Devon Merriman, presented an update on construction cost escalations that are impacting the Durango 9-R 4A Bond construction projects.

Gifted/Talented Program To be more Inclusive, Flexible, and Empowering

Elementary school students will have more access to Gifted & Talented (G/T) instruction in a flexible learning model that will launch in the 2022-23 school year. Durango School District 9-R is excited to evolve the program to provide equitable, wraparound support to gifted learners and their families.

COVID-19 Reminders for Families, Students, and Staff

Please remember to report all symptoms and home test results to the school health office. Symptomatic students should not attend school on the first day of their symptoms. Contact your school health office for guidance beyond day 1 of symptoms.
