Durango School District 9R Food Services is requesting families fill out a form and pre-order meals for delivery starting 11/16. Order deadlines will be the Friday before the delivery week.

Community Update on Cohort Closures - 11.10.20

The following is an update for the 9-R community and does not apply to families who have been notified of a required quarantine:
Dear Families,
On November 10, 2020, 9-R was notified by San Juan Basin Public Health (SJBPH) that there were four additional affected cohorts including the following: Riverview Elementary, Needham Elementary, Durango High School and DHS Athletics. The schools and the district are working proactively with SJBPH to make the appropriate determinations regarding contact tracing and determinations on close contacts with this case.

Update for the Community - 11.8.20

Good afternoon 9-R Families and Staff. As you probably know, our community is seeing a significant increase in new cases of COVID-19. This is not unlike the rest of our state or nation at this point. Needham Elementary School is closed to a majority of its students due to potential exposure of staff members to a positive case. Students were not at risk of exposure as they were not at school due to the cancelation of school a week ago Friday.

On November 6, 2020, 9-R was notified by San Juan Basin Public Health (SJBPH) that an individual at Fort Lewis Mesa Elementary tested positive for COVID-19. The school and the district are working proactively with SJBPH to make the appropriate notifications and next steps for those who may have been in close contact with this individual.

Affected Cohorts due to COVID - Update for the Community

On November 4, 2020, 9-R was notified by San Juan Basin Public Health (SJBPH) that a student at Park Elementary tested positive for COVID-19. Additionally, on November 5, 2020, 9-R was notified that a staff member at Needham Elementary also tested positive for COVID-19. The school and the district are working proactively with SJBPH to make the appropriate notifications and next steps for those who may have been in close contact with this individual.

DHS Cohorts to Quarantine - 11.4.20

On November 4, 2020, 9-R was notified by San Juan Basin Public Health (SJBPH) that an individual at DHS was in contact with a symptomatic individual who was presumed positive for COVID-19. The school and the district are working proactively with SJBPH to make the appropriate determinations regarding cohort dismissals related to this case, and in an abundance of caution the cohorts will quarantine while the investigation is being conducted.

The school and the district are working proactively with SJBPH to make the appropriate notifications and next steps for those who may have been in close contact with this individual.

On October 30, 2020, 9-R was notified by San Juan Basin Public Health (SJBPH) that a student at Durango High School tested positive for COVID-19, and again on November 1, 2020, 9-R was notified that a staff member at Escalante Middle School was also tested positive for COVID-19. The school and the district are working proactively with SJBPH to make the appropriate notifications and next steps for those who may have been in close contact with this individual.

Planning for the Unexpected - Isolation Room and Quarantine

Dear Families,

We know this school year has been a bit different than those we are accustomed to, but thanks to all your hard work and support we have been able to continue in-person learning and limit the number of students, staff and families impacted by COVID-19. It is important that we all remain diligent in our steps to practice the three W’s: wear your mask, wash your hand and watch your distance, while in and outside of school.
