What was discussed and reviewed

  • Asset Protection: Received and reviewed the Superintendent's OE-07 Report regarding Operational Expectation 7 for annual monitoring.

  • Committee Updates: Board members provided individual updates on their respective committee meetings attended over the last month.

  • Strategic Planning: Drafted strategic plan priorities and goals during a group activity led by Paul Beck of CEI.

  • Learning Environments: Reviewed new furniture ideas intended for district classrooms.

  • Legislative Advocacy: Director Erika Brown provided an update on the Get it Done and Cut the Rope campaigns centered on school funding.

  • Academic Calendar: Evaluated collected input regarding school calendar options for the 2027-28 year.

  • Communication Strategy: Reviewed updates to the Board's communication plan.

Actions taken by the Board

  • Policy Evaluation: Conducted a mid-year self-evaluation that identified a need to update several Board policies.

Community engagement

  • Portrait of a Graduate: Needham Elementary School Principal, Riley Alderton, shared a presentation of skills and dispositions in action with students from all grade levels.

  • Wellness Initiatives: Student Board Members provided an update on their project to implement calm spaces and reset rooms in every school.
