Community Meet & Greet - Incoming Superintendent Dr. Karen Cheser

Incoming Superintendent, Dr. Karen Cheser, is hosting a community meet and greet on Wednesday, May 12 at 5:30 pm via Zoom. This is a great opportunity to hear from Dr. Cheser on her vision and initial plans when she begins in July, as well as ask her any questions you may have.

Educator Appreciation Week May 3-7

Here at Durango School District 9-R, we are especially grateful to all our educators, teachers, support staff, and all 9-R staff right now for being so adaptable, creative and dedicated during the last year. Educator Appreciation Week is May 3-7, and we want to use this opportunity to thank all our staff for serving students and their families in an especially difficult year.

COVID-19 Weekly Summary - 4.30.21

The last day of April already! And sights of summer are in full swing. It is so nice to be able to get outside and enjoy all the wonderful outdoor activities our area has to offer. We hope everyone gets some sunshine this weekend while continuing to practice the important mitigation efforts to keep our schools operating for the remainder of the school year. We are almost there!

Between April 24 and April 30, the district responded to nine (9) positive cases of COVID-19, causing twelve (12) cohorts to quarantine from the following schools: Durango High School, Miller Middle School, Needham Elementary School and athletic groups. Additional information about active cases, transmission rates and vaccine availability can be found on the San Juan Basin Public Health website at https://sjbpublichealth.org/.

Cohorts to Quarantine - 4.28.21

On April 27 and April 28, 2021, 9-R was notified by San Juan Basin Public Health (SJBPH) that an individuals at Durango High School, Miller Middle School and Needham COVID-19, causing a cohort(s) to quarantine. The school and the district are working proactively with the SJBPH to make the appropriate notifications and next steps for those who may have been in close contact with these individuals.

Cohorts to Quarantine - 4.26.21

On April 26, 2021, 9-R was notified by San Juan Basin Public Health (SJBPH) that individuals in cohorts at Durango High School and Miller Middle School tested positive for COVID-19, causing a seven (7) cohorts to quarantine. The school and the district are working proactively with the SJBPH to make the appropriate notifications and next steps for those who may have been in close contact with this individual.

Happy windy Friday, 9-R families. Time is flying by, and as we approach the one month mark for the remainder of the school year, we continue to celebrate all the learning successes and all the obstacles that we have been able to overcome this year. Many families are wondering if there will be any adjustments to the school year, including additional in-person days, end-of-the-year events, PPE requirements and more.

The schools and the district are working proactively with the SJBPH to make the appropriate notifications and next steps for those who may have been in close contact with this individual.

On April 20, 2021, 9-R was notified by San Juan Basin Public Health (SJBPH) that individuals in cohorts at Durango High School and Riverview Elementary School tested positive for COVID-19, causing two (2) cohorts to quarantine. The schools and the district are working proactively with the SJBPH to make the appropriate notifications and next steps for those who may have been in close contact with this individuals.
