Here are a few important updates for families as we move forward.
Supporting students and families
We know that some students and families are dealing with displacement, transportation challenges, property damage, and other disruptions. Our schools are committed to working with families individually during this recovery period.
- Attendance: If flooding-related circumstances prevent your student from safely attending school, please communicate with your school’s attendance office when possible.
- Assignments and schoolwork: Teachers and school staff understand that some students may need additional time, flexibility, or support with schoolwork. Families are encouraged to communicate directly with teachers about their student’s circumstances.
- Student well-being: Returning to school can provide familiar routines, supportive relationships, and a sense of normalcy. Our staff are attentive to students who may need additional care and support during this time.
Our goal is to keep students connected to learning while responding with understanding and flexibility to individual needs.
Transportation updates
Road closures, debris removal, and ongoing flood recovery work may continue to affect school bus routes in the days ahead.
- Expect possible delays: Buses may run behind schedule due to road conditions, detours, and recovery work.
- Routes may change with little notice: Road access can change quickly, and the district may not always receive advance notification of closures.
- Watch for updates: We will notify families of affected routes as soon as information becomes available.
We appreciate families’ patience and flexibility as our Transportation Department navigates these changing conditions. Student and staff safety remain our first priority.
Staying informed
Please watch for district and school communications regarding any changes that affect your student’s school or transportation.
