What was discussed and reviewed

Bond Updates: Jacobs Program Managers presented a quarterly bond update covering ongoing projects across district schools and facilities.
Policy Revisions: District staff provided updates regarding district policy modifications and changes.
Cell Phone Policies: Dr. Jon Hoerl, Durango High School Principal, and Jeremy Voss, Assistant Principal for Durango Big Picture High School and The HUB Therapeutic Program, detailed how the district's bell-to-bell cell phone policy requires devices to be turned off and stored during classroom instruction.
Facility Planning: Board members reviewed recommended decision triggers for facility replacement from the Long-Range Planning Committee and offered edits.

Consent Agendas Approved: Board members approved the Board and Superintendent Consent Agendas, which included Human Resources adjunct and Education Support Professionals updates; meeting minutes from June, July, and August 2026; and member appointments for both the Financial Advisory Committee and District Accountability Advisory Committee for the school year.
Monitoring Reports Accepted: Board members accepted the Superintendent's monitoring reports for Operational Expectation 2 (OE-02, Superintendent Succession) and Results Policy 4 (RP-04, Portrait of a Graduate).
Board Policies Updated: Board members approved edits to Board Policies OE-03 and OE-08, alongside the adoption of new policy B/SR-06.

Public Participation: No community members signed up to speak during the public participation segment.
Academic Performance Presentation: Robert Aspen, Head of School for The Juniper School, presented end-of-year test scores for elementary and middle school grades.

Board Work Session: The next Board Work Session will take place on Tuesday, Sept. 8, at 5:30 p.m. at Fort Lewis Mesa Elementary School (11274 Highway 140, Hesperus).
Regular Board Meeting: The next Board Regular Meeting will take place on Tuesday, Sept. 22, at 5:30 p.m. at the Impact Career Innovation Center (2410 Main Ave., on the Durango High School campus).
