DSD Communications earns national and statewide recognition

Today at the National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA) Seminar in New Orleans, DSD received two Golden Achievement Awards. Nationwide, only about 5% of the 2,400 submitted entries were selected for this prestigious award. The DSD entries were:

  • "I Drive the Future" – our creative bus driver recruitment campaign, highlighted by the Touch-a-Bus event at the Durango Farmers Market last summer, which helped generate strong community interest and contributed to the hiring of 13 new bus drivers in the months that followed.

  • "Your Commute. Their Future." – our open enrollment campaign, designed to help working and commuting families discover the opportunities available in Durango School District while supporting strong enrollment for our schools.

Earlier this year, the Colorado School Public Relations Association (COSPRA) also honored DSD with a Publications & Digital Media Excellence Award:

  • "Investing in Our Schools," our bond transparency branding system, with bright school banners at 11 schools that helps taxpayers and our community clearly see how voter-approved bond dollars are being invested in every school.

These awards recognize more than communications: They recognize a commitment to connecting with our community in meaningful ways, celebrating our students and staff, and ensuring families have clear, transparent information to make informed decisions.

"Thank you to everyone who helped bring these projects to life," said DSD Public Information Officer Karla Sluis. "We are proud to tell the story of Durango School District every day."
