Cell Phone Policy: What Families Should Know

Here's the policy for reference, HB25-1135. 

Durango School District has had a Board-approved cell phone policy in place since 2020. Because the district already has a policy and accompanying regulations, no additional policy is required under the new state law taking effect July 1.
 
Our schools are expected to enforce the district's policy and regulations, which are designed to support student learning, engagement, and well-being.
 
We recognize that many families share concerns about the amount of time children and teens spend on their devices, particularly during their formative years. Creating healthy technology habits is a responsibility we all share.
 
Families who have concerns about how the policy is being implemented in a specific classroom or school are encouraged to contact their school principal directly during the school year.
