What was discussed and reviewed

  • Bond Update: Devon Merriman, a Representative of Jacobs, provided the Board with the district's quarterly bond update.

  • Financial Report: Kira Horenn, Director of Finance, presented the 3rd Quarter Financial Update.

  • School Consolidation: The Board reviewed the district’s recommendation regarding the potential consolidation of Sunnyside Elementary School

  • Workforce Housing: Officials held an Executive Session to discuss the status of property negotiations related to workforce housing.

  • Labor Negotiations: Board members received an update in Executive Session regarding upcoming negotiations with the Durango Education Association (DEA) and the Durango Education Support Professionals Association (DESPA).

Actions taken by the Board

  • Consent Agendas: The Board approved the Superintendent and Board Consent Agendas, which included the HR Consent Agenda, meeting minutes from March and April 2026, the 2020 Bond arbitrage report, and a consultant's agreement to replace the district-wide phone system.

  • Policy Compliance: The Board found the Superintendent in compliance with policy OE-13, which focuses on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging.
