Board seeks input on district recommendation to consolidate Sunnyside

District staff presented data to the DSD Board of Education during the April 14 Work Session, which included enrollment trends, class size, and fiscal impact. The data can be viewed in this presentation.

The Board has decided to move forward with a community engagement plan before considering potential action. This process is focused on gathering input, understanding potential impacts, and hearing from families, staff, and community members.

All community members are encouraged to participate in any of the following opportunities created by the Board.

To ensure a respectful and productive environment, community forums will follow a structured format designed to allow multiple voices to be heard.

  • Advance sign-up is encouraged for in-person speaking time (maximum of 3 minutes per person).

  • Additional in-person speaking slots will be available at the event (maximum of 3 minutes per person).

  • The forums will be recorded and shared publicly on the district’s YouTube channel after the event.

  • An online feedback form will be available at the forums for those who prefer not to speak publicly.

The most up-to-date information on the Sunnyside consolidation recommendation is available on this DSD website page.
