District staff presented data to the DSD Board of Education during the April 14 Work Session, which included enrollment trends, class size, and fiscal impact. The data can be viewed in this presentation.
The Board has decided to move forward with a community engagement plan before considering potential action. This process is focused on gathering input, understanding potential impacts, and hearing from families, staff, and community members.
All community members are encouraged to participate in any of the following opportunities created by the Board.
- Monday, April 27, 5:30 p.m. – Community Forum at Sunnyside Elementary School, 75 County Road 218. Sign up to speak at the Sunnyside Community Forum on April 27. Please sign up by noon on April 27.
- Tuesday, April 28, 5:30 p.m. – Board of Education Regular Meeting at Impact Career Innovation Center, 2410 Main Ave. The meeting will be livestreamed on YouTube, and public participation is available in person or by Zoom. Visit this page to sign up for public participation. The sign-up link will open April 27 at 5 p.m.
- Tuesday, May 5, 6:30 p.m. – Community Forum at Florida Mesa Elementary School, 216 Highway 172. Sign up to speak at the Florida Mesa Community Forum on May 5. Please sign up by noon on May 5.
- Online Feedback Form – There will be an opportunity for anyone to comment via an online form for a two-week period beginning April 27 through May 10.
To ensure a respectful and productive environment, community forums will follow a structured format designed to allow multiple voices to be heard.
- Advance sign-up is encouraged for in-person speaking time (maximum of 3 minutes per person).
- Additional in-person speaking slots will be available at the event (maximum of 3 minutes per person).
- The forums will be recorded and shared publicly on the district’s YouTube channel after the event.
- An online feedback form will be available at the forums for those who prefer not to speak publicly.
