DHS swimming and diving coach earns top honor

Tom JoynerIt’s no surprise, then, that Joyner’s peers at the Colorado High School Activities Association (CHSAA) recently named him the 4A Girls Swimming and Diving Coach of the Year. This prestigious honor recognizes Joyner’s outstanding coaching, mentorship, and contributions to the sport.

The award was announced at the conclusion of the CHSAA state championships on Feb. 13, but Joyner had skipped the final festivities to ensure his athletes would have a comfortable journey home. As he was warming up the minibus for his team, his students accepted the award on his behalf.

“Coach Joyner goes above and beyond to help make sure the girls have a positive experience in and out of the pool,” said DSD Athletic and Activities Director Ryan Knorr. “He has grown the program and consistently delivers state-quality swimmers and teams. It’s great that he was recognized for his achievements!”
