Growing Language and Literacy

If you have a multilingual student who may need additional support and you are wondering about translation, please collaborate with your building’s ELD teacher to determine if translation is appropriate for the student. Please keep in mind that translation is generally not appropriate for most students, as English is our language of instruction. Our goals for multilingual learners are to help them achieve ACCESS growth targets, meet or exceed grade level academic standards, and develop the competencies outlined in the Portrait of a Graduate (PoG). The Key ELD Practices linked above are great practices that can support ALL students in the classroom.
