Public is invited to Grand Opening of Impact Career Innovation Center

Everyone is warmly welcome to this event, which will feature a land acknowledgement and Indigenous site blessing, ribbon-cutting, refreshments provided by DHS culinary students, interactive tours and demonstrations, and student music performances.

Students have identified the following event goals. When our guests leave, they will…

  • Understand the purpose and usage of Impact
  • Feel inspired about the evolution of Career & Technical Education (CTE)
  • Be aware that students lead the way at this facility
  • Learn about 14 different career pathways at DHS
  • Witness the “stoke factor” that lifelong learning is fun
  • Know how they can support students in specific ways

The district is proud to honor the 4A Bond to construct and equip a Career and Technical Education building that will shape the destinies of our students and address our community’s future workforce needs.

Impact Center classroomA Maker Space classroom in the Impact Center is configurable for a variety of education needs.

This fall, state dignitaries expressed interest in a standalone CTE facility  – which is a recent trend at some districts in our state – and had a chance to tour the building with students, including Gov. Jared Polis and Colorado Department of Education Commissioner Susana Córdova.

“Our students are bringing the ‘stoke factor’ to this event – that delightul mix of fun, curiosity, and enthusiasm,” said Karla Sluis, the district’s Public Information Officer and the coordinator of the event. “We have several committees of students working together, and they get to learn about event planning by doing it hands-on, from start to finish. This experience is exactly what Impact is about.”
