Safety Events & Reminders

Escuela Para Padres (School for Parents) has resumed to support our district's Spanish-speaking families. The first session of this school year was held this past week for Park Elementary School and Escalante Middle School families. More than 30 parents attended the event, which included a discussion about safety and special education. "I am very proud to have created this program and run it for the second year," said Gabriela Rico-Alvarez, our bilingual parent liaison. The next Escuela Para Padres session will be held on Jan. 25. Emergency Messaging
Last Tuesday after the tragic shooting at Santa Rita Park, the district sent out a text and email message to families, staff, and students letting everyone know our schools were safe.

If you did not receive this message, please make sure your contact information is correct in your Parent Portal in Infinite Campus so you will receive future emergency communications. (Remember: Do not type "STOP" to text messages, or it will opt you out of all communication.) To opt back into the emergency notification system: Call the Finalsite Phone Hotline (855) 502-7867 from the phone that you want to receive calls; for text messages, text START to "60680" from the phone you want to receive texts. Students may also need reminders to opt in to the messaging from their cell phones, which includes early-morning alerts on Snow Days.

Please remind your student that we use the Safe2Tell system. Using a quick online form, people can anonymously report anything that concerns or threatens them, their friends, their family, or their community. Reports may be submitted any time, any day. Learn more about Safe2Tell here.
