Approximately 60 DHS students have collaborated on the product testing, marketing, accounting, customer service, sales, and distribution of this product. The sauce was developed with local ingredients and is fairly mild. It has an underlying sweetness from local peaches, a vibrant red color from red Hatch chiles, a tangy vinegar bite, and a kick from some added habanero chile.
Demon Sauce was created with local peaches, red chiles, and a generous amount of student collaboration.
The Demon Sauce logo and bottle label were designed by students in Graphic Design and Illustration II at Durango High School.
Demon Sauce is currently only available to Durango School District staff and students. Community members will be able to purchase the product soon. Proceeds of the sales will benefit the district’s Food & Nutrition Department, with a percentage going back to Durango High School for school supplies and activities.
