Last spring, the 9-R Health Insurance Committee met and discussed the best ways to use this rebate. It was decided to provide a health insurance premium "holiday" this year for all employees who are enrolled in a 9-R health insurance plan as of 11/1/2021. A health insurance premium holiday means that employees do not pay the employee portion of the holiday for the month.
The premium holiday will take place in October. This benefit will be applied in proportion to the benefit the employee already receives for health insurance. In other words, employees who are eligible for full insurance will receive a 100% premium holiday and will pay no employee portion of health insurance in the month of October. Employees who are eligible for 50% health insurance coverage will receive a 50% premium holiday and will pay 50% of the employee portion of health insurance in the month of October.
Things to remember:
1) This insurance holiday only happens for the month of October. November deductions will be as normal.
2) The maximum benefit is equal to the employee expense for health insurance that month.
3) Employees whose FTE makes them 50% eligible for benefits will receive a 50% reduction in their employee health insurance expense for the month of October.
4) The premium holiday only applies to health insurance; it does not apply to vision and dental insurance.
