Up from 30 Christmas meals last year, the school family has been working all year, along with Manna Soup Kitchen, in preparation for this wonderful event. The students held fundraisers to buy all the “fixin’s” such as stuffing, potatoes and canned cranberry sauce. Lu Boren, Ag Teacher at Escalante, worked with her 7th grade ag group to bake 46 total homemade apple pies, made from the hearts of children and made possible by the generous donation of gleaned apples from Manna Soup Kitchen.
In addition, Manna Soup Kitchen also donated 50 turkeys for these amazing Christmas meals. Wrapped up in a pretty bow, families will be grabbing these meals throughout the week, and can look forward to a yummy Christmas dinner with their families. Thanks to all the staff, students, parents and community members, including Manna Soup Kitchen, for making this possible.
