Durango School District's SOIL Outdoor Learning Lab (2900 Mesa Ave., on the Riverview Elementary School campus) will host "Defying the Frost: A Winter Tour of the SOIL Grow Dome" on Tuesday, Jan. 20, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. In this free community workshop, participants will explore the science that makes year-round growing possible, tour the aquaponics system, see how SOIL cultivates subtropical plants right here in the mountains, and take a break from the cold amidst the warmth and lush greenery of the grow dome.
