Be ready for winter weather

Please take a moment to do the following:

  • Log in to the Infinite Campus Parent Portal and check that your phone numbers and email addresses are correct. Please do not opt out of emergency messaging, or you will not receive any messages in the future.
  • If you are not sure about a message on a storm morning, check the district website or social media channels around 5:30 a.m.
  • On snowy mornings:
    • If there is no delay or closure message by 6 a.m., schools are open on a regular schedule.
    • Expect possible bus delays, and give yourself extra time to get to bus stops and school.
    • Prep your car for winter driving and allow extra time to drive slowly and carefully.
    • Make sure students waiting at bus stops are dressed for cold and wind, with warm coats, boots, hats, and gloves.

You can find more details in our Snow Day Frequently Asked Questions web page on the district website.

We deeply appreciate our bus drivers, who work hard to get students to and from school safely on icy, snowy roads, when school buses face unique challenges. In declaring a Snow Day, one of the district’s primary concerns is whether our bus drivers can safely navigate winter road conditions, which can vary greatly across 1,079 square miles in La Plata County.
