Coach Billy Bowker, a retired Smiley Jr. High and Escalante Middle School coach, started the Bowker games 18 years ago, to fill a void when Special Olympics was discontinued in this region. Except for a two-year COVID-19 hiatus, Coach Bowker has volunteered his time to organize these games for 18 years.
Thanks to Coach Bowker, Escalante Middle School for hosting the event, all of the parents, teachers, aides, and volunteers who helped make the Games happen. Medals were provided by San Juan BOCES and bandanas were provided by Monica Ellis-Piccoli.
