COVID-19 Survey Feedback Results

Your feedback was critical to supporting the development of the guidelines for our district.  Please watch for this document in the coming days.


Attached in the PDF below is a summary of the feedback the district received through its online survey, which was open to the public from July 23, 2021 through August 5, 2021. Here are some trends identified in the feedback received:


Of more than 1200 responses, the demographics are as follows:

Parent - 72%

9-R Staff - 11%

Parent and 9-R Staff - 8%

Community Member - 6%


When asked what options would family members consider if it meant their student would not need to quarantine if exposed to a positive case, the following mitigation strategies are presented with the percentage of support from the survey respondents:

  • Ensure 3’ social distancing - 59%
  • Support the practice of unvaccinated individuals wearing a mask - 54%
  • Provide vaccination information to school - 53%
  • Have student vaccinated if eligible - 52%
  • Have students participate in regular testing - 50%

When asked what strategies are most supported to implement in the 2021/22 school year, the following items are presented in the format showcasing the most to least supported strategy:

  1. Hand washing
  2. Cleaning
  3. Symptom Screening
  4. Masking
  5. Physical Distancing
  6. Testing
  7. Contact Tracing
  8. Cohorting

When asked what strategies caused the greatest imposition to families during the 2020/21 school year, the following items are presented from the greatest to the least imposition on families:

  1. Cohorting
  2. Masking
  3. Testing
  4. Contact Tracing
  5. Physical Distancing
  6. Symptom Screening
  7. Cleaning
  8. Optimizing Ventilation
  9. Hand washing

When asked about needs to support reaching a population-based vaccination rate of 70% or greater of eligible individuals receiving the first dose of the vaccine, families requested the following supports in order of most to least requested support:

  1. Provide information on the vaccine
  2. Host vaccine clinics at schools
  3. Host a vaccine clinic with a community partner
  4. Provide transportation
