An abundant year at the SOIL Outdoor Learning Lab, and big plans ahead

This year, SOIL opened the Grow Dome to support year-round growing and learning, hosted more than 2,700 students and community members through field trips and events, launched the SOIL Shares program to provide fresh produce to cafeterias and DSD families, and harvested more than 4,000 pounds of fruits and vegetables.

Looking ahead to 2026, SOIL has ambitious plans, including building Phase 3: The Hub (a new community gathering and learning space), developing CTE opportunities for our high school students, expanding field trips for Miller and Escalante middle schools, and welcoming all DSD elementary students for grade-level field trips.
