Received and reviewed the superintendent’s Operational Expectation 3: Community Stakeholder Relationships (OE-03) Report for annual monitoring.

Reviewed school Unified Improvement Plans (UIPs), which have an updated format. UIPs set focused improvement goals for each school based on their data and are updated every other year (annually if the school is in Improvement status).

Discussed repurposing the Florida Mesa Elementary School site into a regional workforce development center in partnership with Ignacio, Bayfield, and local industries.

Heard monthly updates on all committees in the district and community where Board members serve as liaisons.

Reviewed minor edits to multiple policies.

Conducted a first review of new documents for several Board processes, including Superintendent Review, Public Budget Hearing, After Action Review, and Agenda Planning.

Approved the name of the new school at Three Springs: Three Springs Elementary.

Adopted the Board’s legislative platform for the school year, focused on funding.
- Approved a resolution in support of Proposition LL: Retain and Spend State Revenue Exceeding the Estimate for Proposition FF and Proposition MM: Increase State Taxes for School Meals and Food Assistance Programs, which appear on the Nov. 4, 2025, statewide ballot. - Approved a resolution in support of the Get It Done! collaborative campaign for equitable and adequate Colorado public-school funding. View the draft resolution here.

Agreed to support a grant application for an additional electric school bus.
Community engagement

Students from Mrs. Berger’s kindergarten class demonstrated how they use technology to learn math. They solved addition equations and coded a Bee Bot — a robot shaped like a bumblebee — to find answers on a grid. Their presentation reflected every Portrait of a Graduate competency.
