Staff were greeted at 7 a.m. with rock music, cheering, and a VIP red carpet. High school and middle school students presented their self-directed, project-based learning that aligned with their interests, including: an app to match teachers seeking housing with local landlords; a global collaboration exploring river health; and a mock legal trial.
But the day didn't end there. The 850+ staff filled classrooms in Durango High School's West Wing to teach and learn from each other during the innovative Portrait of a Graduate Academy. Staff chose from a wide variety of topics, such as "Gifted Ed Essentials," "Fueling Wonder with STEM Learning"... and even pickleball for P.E. teachers.
What a great start for our team! We can't wait to see our superstars... the students.
