Here's a quick look at the latest developments and what’s coming next.
- Citizen Bond Oversight Committee (CBOC). The committee continues to meet monthly with the purpose of overseeing the process, validating that spending conforms to ballot language, and reviewing the budget.
- Long Range Planning Committee (LRPC). The committee met in June, continuing the focus to developing a long-term school replacement plan and considering ideas for the conversion and repurposing of the Florida Mesa Elementary campus once the Three Springs Elementary school comes on line in the fall of 2028.
- Three Springs Elementary School. The Design Advisory Group has now met four times, working on a design scope that the architects will bring to reality! We are closer to publishing an Request For Proposal to source a general contractor for this project. Work is ongoing and going well related to the subdivision of the property.
- Development of Master Construction Schedules. A draft master schedule for the entirety of the 2024 bond program has been drawn up and is approved. It is critical to note that with a program this large things may change along the way. In planning this schedule, we considered the impact it will have on summer school closures (due to extensive work) and worked to ensure alignment such that contractors will not be overloaded in any given summer with the work prescribed. Here's a look at the schedule:
- Fall 2025
- Low-Flow Water Fixture Scope (replacements district wide)
- Fleet Replacements at Transportation
- Technology Replacements
- Summer 2026
- Deferred Maintenance Scope at Needham, Riverview, Animas Valley, and Florida Mesa elementary schools

- Workforce Housing. Since the last update, meetings with focus groups (composed of interested district staff), developers and other potential partners have occurred. Currently, we are weighing some options that are on the table and hope to have more on this subject in the near future. As a reminder, initial results of our housing survey were published on our website.
- Elimination of Leased Facilities. We are continuing to explore options to satisfy this scope with the Long Range Planning Committee. Currently, the district only has one long-term leased facility that houses our facilities/custodial and technology departments. The technology department will move to the district office in the fall of 2025, The Hub will move from their rented facility in the fall of 2025 to the property purchased for this purpose, and Big Picture High School will move in the fall of 2026 to their new, owned, facility.
