Free summer meals return – now at Needham Elementary

From Monday, June 2, through Thursday, July 31, sack lunches – along with a breakfast for the next day – will be served Monday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the playground on the east side of Needham Elementary. No paperwork is needed – just show up!

Please note: No meals will be served Friday, July 4 in observance of the Independence Day holiday.

Why the move to Needham?

Previously held at Park Elementary, the program has shifted locations due to facility maintenance and repairs funded by the 2024 Investing in Our Schools Bond. Needham offers a walkable site for many Durango families and is also the summer home of the Boys & Girls Club’s Kids Camp, making it an ideal location to serve more children while reducing transportation emissions.

Who can receive meals?

The program is open to all children 18 and under, and no registration required. Young adults (19 and older) with physical or mental disabilities who are enrolled in a school program during the academic year are also eligible.

Weather and updates

In the event of inclement weather, meal service may be canceled for the day. For the most up-to-date info, please call or text Matthew Poling at (970) 308-7157.
