Inclusive Excellence Guiding Coalition Update

The Durango School District strives to create a learning environment where all students own their learning, act on their learning, impact their community, and live out their Ikigai. We value the benefits of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging for our students, families, staff, and community.

Our coalition continues to impact the school district through action planning, implementation, and accountability.

The group collaboratively set three growth priorities for the 2023-24 school year:

  • Continue our district’s commitment to emphasize and grow on-going DEIB training for existing staff and provide DEIB onboarding for new staff.
  • Increase diversity representation in existing committees, as well as increase parent engagement.
  • Ensure equitable, effective, and consistent learning expectations for all students using the Multi-Tiered System of Support.

On September 5, 2023 our coalition met for the first time this school year.  We formed three subcommittees each of which will focus on the three growth priorities.

The coalition values the diversity of our community and is committed to having diverse representation to help reach our goals. For the 2023-24 school year we are recruiting committed and passionate members from each of the school communities.
