The Opening Reception will feature visual art from all schools and all ages. There will be appetizers prepared by the Durango High School ProStart culinary program and music from the Miller Middle School and Durango High School Orchestra Ensembles. The Youth Art Month Exhibition will be displayed at the Impact Center from March 6 to March 29.

The Council for Art Education (CFAE) administers Youth Art Month. Art shows, special exhibits, fundraisers, and school and community activities take place annually, traditionally during March, to celebrate visual art education for grades K – 12. Youth Art Month encourages support for quality school art programs, and promotes art material safety. The program provides a medium for recognizing skills developed through visual arts experiences unlike any other curriculum subjects, including:

  • Problem solving
  • Creativity
  • Observation
  • Communication
We are grateful for all of our schools' art teachers for doing a tremendous amount of work to pull this event off. Last year's event at the Main Mall was a huge success, and we hope to have a similar turnout to support our district's talented young artists.
