Federal Programs
The Student Services Division offers additional support for students through the following federal programs under the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA):
Title I, Part A
Title I, Part A is the largest federal program supporting both elementary and secondary education. The program’s resources are allocated based upon the poverty rates of students enrolled in schools and districts and are designed to help ensure that "all children will have a fair, equitable, and significant opportunity to obtain a high-quality education.” Visit our Title I, Part A page to learn more.
Title I, Part D
Title I, Part D provides funds for youth in state-operated institutions. Title I, Part D programs must meet the educational needs of neglected, delinquent and at-risk youth and assist in their transition from correctional facilities to local programs. These funds support the DeNier Center.
Title II
Title II is intended to increase student academic achievement consistent with challenging State academic standards, improve the quality and effectiveness of educators, increase the number of educators who are effective in improving student academic achievement in schools, and provide low-income and minority students greater access to effective educators.
Title III
Title III is designed to improve and enhance the education of English learners (ELs) in becoming proficient in English, as well as meeting the Colorado Academic Content Standards. The program provides enhanced instructional opportunities for immigrant students. These funds are used to support the education of our EL students in all of our schools.
Title IV
Title IV is intended to improve students’ academic achievement by increasing the capacity to provide all students with access to a well-rounded education, improve school conditions for student learning, and improve the use of technology in order to improve the academic achievement and digital literacy of all students.
Title VI
Title VI works with local educational agencies, Native American tribes and organizations, postsecondary institutions, and other
entities toward the goal of ensuring that programs that serve Native American children are of the highest quality and provide for not only the basic elementary and secondary educational needs, but also the unique educational and culturally related academic needs of these children. McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act
The Homeless Education program is authorized under Title VII-B of the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act (42 USC 11431 et seq.). The McKinney-Vento Act was enacted to address the numerous barriers homeless children face in obtaining a free, appropriate public education.
