9-R Schools Celebrate Veterans

Our local schools will be honoring the service of our local veterans in a variety of ways this November. Here is a peek at a few of the opportunities to join our students and staff in saying thank you to our service men and women:

Join 9-R to Discuss 2021 Graduation Requirements

As you may have heard, the board needs to revise the graduation requirements for the class of 2021 - our current 8th-grade class. We’ve held a number of public events about this process but would like to invite you to a parent meeting on Tuesday, October 18 from 6:00-7:30 in the auditorium of Durango High School.

Reminder: Daylight Savings Ends on November 6th

Durango School District 9-R would like to remind families that Daylight Savings Time will end at 2am on Sunday, November 6th. Clocks will turn backward one hour at that time.

Title VI Welcomes Dr. Parsons-Yazzie

Through a Durango Education Foundation (DEF) core academic grant, the Durango 9-R Title VI program has been able to partner with the Durango Public Library to bring author Dr. Evangeline Parsons-Yazzie to Durango for a special cultural literacy enrichment program. Dr. Parsons-Yazzie will also be visiting some of our schools and reading her book to our students.

Park Counselor Stephanie Trudeaux Receives State Honor

Park's very own counselor, Stephanie Trudeaux, has received recognition from the Colorado School Counseling Association and was bestowed with the Elementary Counselor of the Year award for the entire of State of Colorado for 2016/17 school year.

Durango Fire Protection District Hosts Open House

The Fire Station located at 1235 Camino Del Rio is hosting an open house on Saturday, October 15th from 10am - 2pm. Come meet your local firefighters and medics, tour the station and trucks, watch live demonstrations and meet the board of directors.

Durango High School Launches New Demon Deli

Two Durango High School DECA members won second place in Creative Marketing Project at the International Career Development Conference (ICDC) DECA conference held in Nashville, Tennessee April 23 to 26, 2016 for their project about a new healthy grab-and-go lunch option at Durango High School, the Demon Deli. Mason Stetler and Jared Webster, the winning duo, wrote a 30-page marketing plan on the Demon Deli and presented their plan to Nashville business leaders.

State Releases PARCC Results – Understanding the Scores

Today, the Colorado Department of Education released the state’s Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers, or PARCC. This marks the second year that the PARCC assessment has been administered in the Durango 9-R school system and parents will soon receive score reports that detail how students performed on last spring’s assessments in English language arts, math and science.
