Pack the Pantry Fundraiser

9-R will be putting out the food bags for families this summer in partnership with Manna. The bins will be outside DHS, Admin, SSE, FLM, FME and AVE on Thursdays (starting 6/4). Families just drive up and take one bag per student for assistance with non-perishable foods. To that end, we are also hosting a food drive with community partners to support this program.

Mental Health Awareness Month was designed to raise awareness about the importance of a healthy lifestyle and its preventative factors and benefits for the mind and to stop the stigma associated with mental health.

Public Budget Meeting

As you may have heard, our district is facing a significant reduction in revenue for the 2020-21 school year as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.  Public education funding is calculated at the state level and with an estimated $3.3 billion dollar shortfall in the state revenue year, we are planning for a significant reduction.

Planning for the 2020/21 School Year

We face many unknown factors in the upcoming school year. Will we be allowed to come back to school as we did prior to March 13? Will we need to implement social distancing? Can students come back into buildings at ½ capacity? What if I enjoy having my child at home more and would like to partner with a teacher to deliver instruction from home? Many of you are pondering many of these questions in our community.

In-Person Instruction Suspension Extended

Included in this message, you will see that a decision was made by the Governor to close schools to in-person instruction for the remainder of the year. While I am saddened that conditions will not allow us to welcome our children back into schools safely this year, it does allow us to continue to focus on the quality of our home-based program and ensure that we are reaching all of our children.
