The cohorting and quarantine process is effective in allowing early identification of a potential exposure with immediate response to ensure the safety of students and staff in the cohort and the school. PPE worn by staff continues to play a critical role in reducing staff quarantines and supports a stable staffing level to keep schools open. During the week of February 8th, it was designated that there was an outbreak at Park Elementary as two staff and two students from two cohorts tested positive for COVID-19, and the health department designates an outbreak if there are two or more cases in a cohort.
Notices of any quarantines in our schools is available on our website at durangoschools.org, as well as on the affected school’s website. Our COVID-19 Supports page, which is linked from every For Families section on all school sites, is a summary page of all responses and quarantines related to COVID-19. The current Return to In-Person Learning Matrix can be found HERE, as well as on the above referenced COVID-19 Supports page.
We are very excited to be able to offer a COVID-19 vaccine clinic tomorrow, Saturday, February 13, 2021, at two school sites for our staff. This will allow us to provide the first doses of vaccinations to close to 600 employees.
We look forward to continuing to increase in-person learning for all students, and want to increase that time in a methodical manner to ensure stability in staffing and ability to keep schools open. When we move on the dial as a community, we will work to collect data over the following 14 days to ensure that we will remain consistent as a community on the dial as well as consistency of availability of staff resources in our schools to support students.
We remind families to continue to practice the three W’s, both inside and outside of school, which are: wash your hands, wear your mask, and watch your distance.
