Krista Garand

Krista began her career in Food Service in 1994 after graduating from Culinary School.  She held various jobs in restaurants including Line Cook, Sous Chef, and Pastry Chef.  Krista was also a Culinary teacher for Pueblo Community College and ran her own wedding cake business.  Krista's career with Durango 9-R began in August 2004.  She became the Director of Student Nutrition in 2006.
Krista found her passion working with local foods back in 1994 while running a kitchen in the Oregon wine country.  To this day she says her passion for bringing healthy, fresh, local food to our 9-R students is what motivates her in this work.
Outside of work, Krista enjoys travelling, hiking, running, and telemark skiing.
Fun fact:  Krista and her family have hiked the Colorado Trail!
