Universal Preschool Registration Process 

Universal Preschool Program provides 15 hours of free tuition to all children who are 4 by September 1 for the enrolled school year. Some families may be eligible for supplementary hours based on qualifying factors. In order to apply, families must complete the Universal Preschool Application, indicate their qualifying factors and accept their match. 

Matches to families will come from the Colorado Department of Early Childhood and must be accepted through the universal preschool application in order to enroll. Matches will be sent to families in rounds based on when the application is submitted.

• December 9, 2025 - February 2, 2026: Registration through upk.Colorado.gov opens for families. Pre-registration application window for families requesting Continuity of Care (CoC) placements, sibling attending, or child of an employee. 
• February 2-11, 2026: Families must accept pre-registration matches. 
• February 25 - March 6, 2026: Families are notified of first round matches by 5 pm. Families must accept or decline by 11:59 pm on March 6.
• March 24 - March 31, 2026: Families notified of second round matches. Families must accept or decline by 11:59 pm on March 31. 
• April 1 until the end of the 2025–26 school year: Families enroll directly through providers.

*If your child qualifies for an IEP (Individual Education Program) you will bypass the matching rounds and be directly placed with the program recommended by your IEP team.
