Next school year, new 2015-2016 state requirements regarding student immunizations will be in affect. These new requirements state that all kindergarten through 12th grade students must have had 2 doses of the Varicella (chickenpox) vaccine before attending school. To ensure that your student is up to date on their immunizations, please check with your healthcare provider to see if your student has had 2 doses of the varicella vaccine. If not, please schedule an appointment for your student to receive a second dose and bring the record to your health office so you can ensure your child’s record is complete for next year.
We recommend that all parents review the vaccines required by the Colorado Board of Health for school entry, as well as the vaccines that are recommended by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP). Please contact your school nurse if you have further questions or concerns.
The School Based Health Centers (SBHC) at both Durango High School and Florida Mesa Elementary offer full immunizations required for school on site and typically have same day appointments available. For more information about the SBHC please click here.
