Our schools want to make your involvement in your student’s academic career easy and rewarding. Students become more vested in their education when they see significant adults from their lives involved at school. We believe that when kids see that the community cares about them, kids will care about their community.
Please consider volunteering some time to your child’s school. Opportunities are endless through parent and teacher organizations, field trips, classroom parents, and more. Sign up to receive your school’s electronic newsletter to find volunteer opportunities; you can also sign up to your school’s parent teacher organizations email list to receive even more information about ways to get involved. Your classroom teacher may also have classroom activities that require volunteers listed in their school newsletter.
The district has also developed a unique educational program, designed to teach the community about the business of education. The program, called Leadership 9-R, provides a monthly session, or class, to cover a key topic about the business of education. Topics may include: school finance, serving special populations, assessments and more! To learn more about Leadership 9-R, or to sign up for the next session of the program, please email the Communications team at [email protected]
For additional information about volunteering, please contact the administrative assistant at your child’s school or visit your school’s website by clicking on “Our Schools” from the durangoschools.org website.
