District 9-R Holiday/Winter Programs

Schools throughout Durango School District 9-R will celebrate the winter season with winter and holiday music programs during the month of December. Community members are invited to attend.

· Animas Valley winter program on Dec. 7

Animas Valley Elementary School will host its winter music program “The Legend of Polar Mountain” at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 7, at Miller Middle School. For more information, contact Nancy Bray at 247-0124, ext. 3400.

· Miller holiday concert Dec. 6

Miller Middle School choirs and advanced orchestra will present their holiday concert “Carols Around the World” at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 6, in the Miller auditorium. The concert is free and the public is invited to attend. The Fort Lewis College brass ensemble and district music teachers will perform as guest musicians. · Sunnyside winter program

· Escalante winter concerts

Escalante Middle School will present its winter concerts at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 12 and Wednesday, Dec. 13, in the school cafetorium. The seventh- and eighth-grade choir, band, and orchestra will perform on Dec. 12 and also perform at Florida Mesa, Park and Sunnyside Elementary Schools on Dec. 15. · Needham kindergarten music program

Needham Elementary kindergarten student will present a collection of holiday songs at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 7, in Needham’s multi-purpose room. For more information, contact Susan Tallarico at 247-4791.

· Needham orchestra cookie concert

Needham Elementary School’s student orchestra will present its cookie concert at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 6, in Needham’s music room. Each student will perform a recital piece. · Park first-grade holiday music program

· Fort Lewis Mesa’s winter program Dec. 5

· Riverview winter music program

Riverview Elementary School’s fourth- and fifth-graders will host their winter music program at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 14. Students in Discovery Singers Choir, Concert Choir and Orchestra will sing and play their instruments to start the performance. All fourth- and fifth-grade students will perform A German Folk Tale, Bremen Town Musicians. The performance will conclude with a compilation of holiday inspired pieces. · Miller Middle School winter concert

· Durango High School holiday concert

Durango High School choirs and orchestra will present their annual holiday concert at 7 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 11, in the DHS auditorium. The concert will feature the DHS Orchestra, Colours, Concert Choir and Subject to Change (the group formerly known as Pearls).
