Science
scores show significantimprovement
The
percentage of students scoring proficient or advanced on the
2007 CSAP science tests increased significantly over the previous
year. The percentage of fifth-graders meeting state standards
jumped 8 percentage points, and 10th-grade scores increased by
5 percentage points. In addition, the percentage opf students
scoring unsatisfactory dropped from 14.7 in 2006 to 11.3 percent
in 2007; and advanced scores increased from 11.3 percent in 2006
to 13.3 percent last year.
The
district developed a new secondary science program in 2006-07
that will be taught for the first time in 2007-08. Program
changes emphasize more integration of technology. Elementary
teachers will complete work on the elementary curriculum this
year.
In
its accreditation contract with the Colorado Department of
Education, the district must meet a performance target of 80
percent proficient and advanced. The district also has set
