New "NO
CHARGE" policy adopted for 2006-07
Durango
School District 9-R's Student Nutrition Services will
no longer allow students to charge school lunches in
2006-07. Unpaid lunch charges cost the district $8,000
last year, and the district no longer can afford to subsidize
the lunch program without raising school lunch prices
for those who pay. The district participates in the federal
government's free- and reduced-price lunch program. Families
who meet low-income guidelines are encouraged to apply
as soon as possible. Families who qualified last year
must reapply by Sept. 30, if they want to maintain their
status. And coming later this fall, parents will be able
to pay for a week, month, or year's worth of school lunches
online through MySchoolLunch.com. We'll have more information
at registration.
