Professional Development

The principal goal of professional development is to improve student performance. The following standards are intended to guide the district to achieve that end.

Standard 1:

Professional development provides all levels of school and district staff with skills needed to improve the measurable achievement of all students in all subject areas.

Standard 2:

The content of professional development is derived from research-based theories and best practices in curriculum, instruction, and assessment and is explicitly linked to the district's Ends Policies and Monitoring Assessments.

Standard 3:

Professional development strategies employ the best practices of adult learning and teacher education.

Standard 4:

Time, support, and resources are made available by the school and/or district for professional development.

Standard 5:

Professional development is subject to regular, meaningful evaluation.
